We’ve been watching Columbo lately- borrowed it from the library and we are sucked in! I love a good murder mystery! Gonna check out your suggestions. :)

Love Pokerface! I grew up watching Columbo. Pokerface is a wonderful modern version. It's a binger. I haven't heard of Goggins. Wrote it down on my book list. Last recommend-- I'm not a fan of mystery reading only because I read at night and may have a tough time falling asleep. Is it a scary read? Thx for the recommends. Goggins sounds like a true role model.

One more quick rec....if you are interested in mysteries that aren't scary, check out Louise Penny. I fell in love with her Chief Inspector Ganache series after reading "Still Life". She writes about Canada in such a deliciously cozy way. It's a wonderful book!

I wouldn't say "The Dry" or any other Jane Harper novels are scary. They're more suspenseful. Although, "The Dry" is a bit dark. If you do look into David Goggins, you are in for a treat! I am always so impressed with him when I find a new interview or piece of content involving him. He's just an incredible person and yes, role model! Glad I'm not the only one on the Poker Face train! Haha. Trying to talk everyone into watching it so they will discuss it with me. My dad always loved Columbo. Wish he was here to share Poker Face with.

I can proudly say that I've never read a Stephen King book. Pop passed or in another state?

I think my love of the macabre may have stemmed from reading Stephen King at way too young of an age. I was a precocious reader and read whatever was lying around.

And, My dad passed in November after a long illness.

I’m so sorry about dad. There are many substackers who deal with grieving process. 🙏🙏
